Julie: Using the Collections Elements Creative Folder

Hello again.

Today I'm sharing a few photos which show how I turned this blank kraft 'Creative Folder' by Collections Elements:
Into this decorative album for my recipe card art journal:

Step 1:  I used a sponge to wipe a light, uneven, coating of gesso across the folder and left it to dry:

Step 2: Next I dabbed various acrylic paints, in shades of cream and pink, through the 'Sequin Waste' Mask from Tando Creative:
Step 3:  I flicked spray ink randomly across the whole thing:
Step 4: I wanted the finished item to appear like a book with a rigid spine, so I ran washi tape down the inside and outside of the spine to strengthen it:
Step 5: I then stitched around the tape on my sewing machine:
Step 6 + 7: I ran lines of stitching around the front, back of the folder, then punched 2 holes along each of the inner tabs to thread ribbon through as a closure for the finished folder:
And here's the finished result from the outside where my titling was layered on to 2 large tickets from Collections Elements:
And from  the inside:
As you can see my recipe card journal 'pages' fit perfectly snugly tucked inside the pouches at the bottom which are fixed in place with strong double sided tape [the line of stitching was done before sticking it down and is for decorative purposes only].

Those cards are 4"x6" and so this would make a great folder for storing photos or giving some as a gift and it's just the right size for storing postcards too. [Ideal if you've been taking part in a postcard swap!]

The Creative Folders come in a pack of 2 for £4.25 and are available in kraft or white.

If you'd like to see more images of the finished folder you can find them here and you can see my finished recipe card pages here.

Thanks for dropping by today, I hope it's given you an idea of how you could get creative with the Creative Folders!

Have you noticed?

that there's a lot of  CCs (far to early to mention the C word)  appearing on blogs near you. Well I'm really inspired by the gorgeous Pion range that Jean has in the shop.
Today I've taken one of the cute Tando frames and mounted it onto chipboard that was covered with a  6 x 6 section of "waiting for Santa" sheet to create a lovely canvas.

I just  love these 12 x 12 sheets that are quartered. Ideal if, like me, you make 6 x 6 cards. You could have used this on the front of a card.

The image inside of the frame is also from Pion and I've highlighted the flowers with a sprinkling of stickles.
Edge the corners with some seasonal flowers and you have yourself a very pretty picture.
So don't get left behind pop over to the shop to get your stash and make a start on those ....CCs (still too early to mention that word)

Julie: scrappy, collage style cards

Hello again.

When Jean showed me the 'Notebooks of the Herboriste' range of patterned papers I knew they'd find their way into my crafting straight away.

I'm a little bit pattern-obsessed and the mix of florals, ledgers, text print, and geometrics within the range made this set of 6 double-sided sheets a little bit irresistible.

So far I've created two layouts - one was my previous Design Team project here and a second which I've shared on my blog here- and several cards. Then, with some of the scraps left over from these, I made this ...
...and this:
Both were very simple to put together and were made on a tray, on my lap in front of the TV. Nothing was measured or cut accurately with a craft knife, rather, the papers were snipped to size, the edges distressed with scissors and embellishments clustered together in a relaxed, casual approach.

Here I used seam binding, a button and decorative pins in colours which pulled out some of the shades in the paper:
... and the same again here:
And with 12 designs [over 6 sheets] to choose from, I think there'll be quite a few more scrappy, patchworky, collage-style cards to be made from this range.

Thanks for dropping by here today, Ill be back with more projects ina few weeks' time.

Julie :-)

And a lovely little "Heart Tray" that you will love to embellish, it petite and so easy to put together as with the other printers tray in stock from Collection Elements. The papers used in this are the new "Boutique" paper pack an some of the new tickets and again the "Old Vintage" sheet. Hope you like these new items , which are all available in the shop now.
