Julie: Scrapbooking with tickets and texture paints

Hello again.

My project today is scrapbooking page featuring some of the new blank tickets from the shop and some fun texture paints too:
The £1.00 pack of tickets contains 20 each of the red, blue and white [shown here with other colours]:
Ever since I got my pack I've been using them on just about everything I make! And they've been coming in particularly useful in my scrapbooking where they make great blocks for dates:
... and titles:
Here some of the wording from the Artchix 'Tell Me A Story' Image Sheet  [currently so popular it's out of stock - but check back for restocks or contact Jean!] also came in handy for my page:
And finally, while my page had quite a few paper layers it still felt a bit 'flat' so I added some
of the Shimmerz 'Texturez' paint in 'Sandy Stone' and 'Patina':
It's a very thick texturized paste-like paint which really does keep it's depth when it dries:
To create this effect I scraped it on to my page through one of my favourite stencils - a sheet of plastic embroidery canvas - I just love the grid design it creates.

So, that's my project for today, make sure to visit the shop if you'd like to know more about the products I've used here.

See you next time.

Julie :-)

Shrine On!

....A crown and wings... what more could you want. You can find these little shrines here. I've used gilding flakes  for the crown and wings and an image from the Artchix faux stamp sheets... it's out of stock at the moment but you could make a Christmas shrine and use these

If you like her wooden ruler necklace then you can get that here.

A Christmas card as its only 74 Days to go

I've started making my Christmas Card and thought I would use the new Lily Bee papers that I have just added to the shop . I've also used the new badges that have just arrived (they are just like a little badge but with out the pin , so they have a flat back , ideal for crafting) .We have a few different ones in stock and if they sell well I will stock more.
The letters have glass glitter on them so they sparkle.

Julie: Stencilling onto scrapbook photos with Shimmerz paints

Hello again.

Today's projects are the first from my 52 Weeks of Photos album:
The 3DJean Design Team and friends are playing along 52 Weeks of Photos this year [and on into 2014!] and everyone's welcome at any time [there's no fixed start/end date - just join in whenever you like!].

If you join us - by finding + photographing one of the 52 topics [available here] each week - can have some interesting, creative, advantages for instance...
  • it gets you to take your camera out and grab a photo each week;
  • it gets you to document your life ... but with a reason. Each of the 52 topics makes a great 'prompt' to remind you to capture something in your life once a week;
  • it gets you printing off those digital photos! Something which we sometimes need a nudge to do!
  • it gets you regularly making something small and creative, While I'm taking one photo per week, I'm not scrapbooking my photos weekly but leaving them for a month or two and then scrapping them.
I'm scrapbooking mine to fit inside split-pocket page protectors and I've made a decision to scrap them in a style where I can combine some of my favourite art-journaling 'messy' techniques alongside scrapbooking. Which, at the moment means using various new Shimmez paints.

Here I applied Shimmerz - Texturez - 'Patina' across my finished card. It's always a bit heart-in-your-mouth adding something messy to a finished page .. but I think the risk paid off! :
I applied it by scraping the pre-coloured texture paste over the top of the Tando Creative 'Sequin Waste' mask:
And, to give you an idea of just how thick and textured this medium is ... I tipped it upside down:
... and fortunately for my carpet ... it stayed inside the jar just like I thought it would!

I added yet another top layer over my photograph in the shape of my ever-faithful Lost Coast Designs Zebra Stripe border stamp
And here's the end result:
For my second week of the project I had another go with the texture paste - to keep some harmony in my album pockets which take 2 cards:

 Here's that stencilled area close-up:
And, before I go I wanted to point out that you don't need to photograph the list of 52 things in order ... for my Week 2 I captured No.47 on the list!
It's not meant to be strict - it's just a fun photo-taking and memory-keeping project to dip into and inspire me to keep creating, on a small scale on a regular basis.

Are you inspired to join us? Or how about trying out that texture paste?

Jan: Life's a Dream

Today I've used a few of my favourite things from the shop to make my card. I just love these Pion images which go with so much.
The background was created with the Purple Onion Harlequin stamp and Vintage Photo Distress ink. The pretty pink paper is also from Pion .
The flower centre is one of the cabochons that Jean had in the shop. You could use the beautiful flat backed pearls as an alternative. Can you spot the brown heart pins in amongst the bouquet?

Although the ticket is one of Tim Holtz I can let you have the heads up that Jean will soon be stocking tickets at a very reasonable price.

52 Photos No 46

..Inside Your Wardrobe...a bit cramped and absolutely no coordination whatsoever! My wardrobe is a bit like my artwork.. one day odd and grungy and the next all clean and neat... at the moment I'm going with 'The anything that fits kind of style'

One thing.. or several things that I have in my wardrobe is moths!... what's that all about, I thought they were a thing of the past.... and try and find mothballs... they don't exist any more either..now it's a little plastic packet of stinky stuff.... I like the idea of mothballs.... reminds me of my Grandmother.

If you would like to join in with 52 Photos then here's ..the list.
