Julie: cardmaking with Lost Coast Designs

Hello again.

 

One of the things I really like about browsing the 3DJean shop is that I know Jean will have found something to stock that I otherwise wouldn't see in my regular crafty shopping places. Partly because she seeks out products from international suppliers ... and also because, like me, she likes things that are a bit 'different'.

 

The most recent thing which caught my eye was the 'Time Flies' stamp from Lost Coast Designs which I made the focal point of this collage-style card:

I love designs which have interesting heads and faces - which is the main reason I fell for this character:

It's not one which takes a great deal of careful colouring-in either. After stamping it on to an ever-so-slightly patterned paper - I just gave it a quick scribble with some coloured pens to bring it to life a little.

 

On the original design the 'Tempus Fugit' [time flies] title is attached just beneath the image but, as I so often do with designs that have more than one element, I snipped them apart to give me the option of stamping with or without the wording. Then I added the title separately:

If you haven't checked out the shop in a while there's a new Infocrea paper collection just added - which is really bright and colourful [no, truly, I mean reeeeaaaalllly bright + colourful!] and definitely a style I haven't seen for a while n scrapbooking. 

 

I've already made a mini album and a magazine project using them and ... while you may not think it on first glance ... the various colours included in the set really do mix well with bright papers form other ranges too. Some new 12x12 papers

We have some new papers arrived from France. Here is a look at them , they are double sided so if you want to see whats on the back of them , then pop over to the shop

..four sheets of Pion papers went missing... cute papers with small people on them... while looking for something else I found them along with a pot of Raspberry glass glitter and some Collection Elements chipboard hearts.........amazing what you find on the floor behind boxes of stuff (Christmas stuff)..so I made some tags..

The Pion papers have lots of little elements and borders to cut out

and I just love glass glitter.. it has a very different look to ordinary glitter..

The tags were made from this cardstock...it's too thick for card bases but is fantastic for tags or constructing boxes, shrines or any project that needs something that bit more substantial than normal cardstock.

Julie: **New In** - and end to chasing embellishments around!

Hello again.

 

Do you use:

• small embellishments in your crafting?
• such as beads, buttons and brads?
• does trying to pick a single, particular, one out out of its container drive you insane?

Me too!

 

Which is why I've been enjoying using this:

Aside from having a fab name 'Embellie Gellie' is also really useful addition to your crafting tool kit.

 

The gel is a squidgy, tacky, substance, presented inside its own box [above] which you can use to easily pick up fiddly embellishments etc. You only need a small amount of it pressed on to the end of the stick provided and you're away.

 

This last week I put it to good use picking out the exact colour of tiny buttons I needed from a jar filled with all kinds of colours:

I also used it to winkle out the specific colour of brad I wanted ... after almost getting my fingers stuck in the jar [and very nearly throwing the jar across the room in frustration!].

But, for a less hysterical description of Embellie Gellie ... here's how the manufacturer, Scraperfect, describes it:

But if you need a little more persuading ... I can honestly report that while it might sound fairly girlie [and yes, it does come in a pink glittery box!] ... it's also really useful for plenty of fiddly men-friendly hobbies too.

 

My other half has already pinched some from me to use in his scale-aeroplane modelling [where he has to pick up and glue together some very tiny parts!] and is equally as impressed by it as I am!

It's All About Hexagons

I've got back into scrapbooking , all I seemed to be make where cards. So I thought I would have a play with the lovely NOTEBOOKS OF THE HERBORISTE 12x12 papers.

 

 

I added some strips and cut up the Hexagon sheet from the range , then added them to the layout with 3d foam pads to give it some depth.

 

A little bit of Basic Grey to pull it all together and some photo's completed the look.

Jan: Sweetheart box

That time is almost upon us to tell the one we love that they are special. This year I thought I would treat my love to a little gift. Jean has some fab kraft card which is great for this sort of project. It is very thick and strong, what you would call construction card. It comes in an amazing range of colours. As it's a Valentine's Day project I've used the brick(red).

 I cut out the shapes using my nesties. They didn't cut out cleanly so I had to help them out with a craft knife but it was worth the effort.

 I've used Pion papers to decorate. The striped band and label are from "From my heart 2" and the butterflies and words are from the new Playtime range.  As for the filling ....well it had to be love hearts, unfortunately Jean is not stocking these...yet.
