Purple Onion...

Have some new stamps...a cute bird and a lovely heart banner..
The following instructions are just for getting you started, for making a base to which you can add any other bits and pieces...for example, rub-ons, gems, further collage items, glitter and any stamped images you like.

Paint your canvas with a layer of gesso.Take any mask and a credit card... scrape a layer of gesso over the mask, let it dry.

take a piece of paper from a book and glue at the top, wipe or brush some colour onto the paper and the textured bottom.Wipe another colour around the edges.

Cut out and add the house, stamp, colour and cut out the bird and the banner.

Use a piece of florists wire as the banner string, poke the ends through the canvas, use foam pads to stick on the hearts, stitch through the hearts and over the wire to hang the hearts.

add words of your choice.....
Everything you need (except the canvas) can be found here....

How cute are these little bird houses!....just the thing for this little chap, he's made from paper clay, (you can find it here I had to trawl the tinterweb before Jean got some in the shop...Iv'e stocked up now) I just love that stuff, it's so versatile....his hat is just a cone of paper.

His house sits on a half polystyrene ball covered with map paper (I'm sticking everything on these at the moment...it makes a change from wheels!)

A bit of German scrap and a stamped tape measure finishes the base... which is an empty ribbon reel.

Hope you like it.

Home Sweet Home.

How cute are these little birdhouses!......they're from Collection Elements.

They don't take much decorating.....I covered mine with paper from an old atlas and scraps of red card.

The bird is covered with a little scrap of painted atlas paper.

The hearts were cut on a Big Shot.

Bags to Dye for!

Need a new bag!... looking for something a bit different? why not decorate your own! The decoration on this bag is done using disperse dyes... a pwdered dye which is mixed with water and then painted on to paper, when dry it's then ironed onto fabric.. the colur is transfered from the paper to the fabric. It is really vibrant on synthetics (which it is intended for) but lovely muted shades can be achieved on cottons.

The dye is ironed through a stencil...the design is then hand embroidered, the bird appliqued, embellishments added and hand made flowers attached........

If all this seems complicated then 3djean makes it easy........there is a kit available!

If you don't want a bag............. how about a t-shirt
Colour fastness is not guaranteed .. so hand wash in cold water

Hope you like it

Don't You Just Love Variety?

I like nothing better than making something from a random selection of 'stuff'.....so Jean came up with a goodie box.........so with a sheet of Victorian scraps, an Art Chix collage sheet,
black shrink plastic ,a bottle of Dew Drops And a few extras from the 'store cupboard' I made this!....................
The cross is cut with a Sizzix die from shrink plastic and the shrine itself is made from scraps of chipboard. The scraps edging makes a fab border around the shrine and the Artchix crow fitted perfectly.

but one of the best bits for me is the Dew Drops edging.... this is something I'll definately use again!
Hope you like it!
