Pion Images

Who doesn't love these beautiful image sheets from PION and at only £1.20 a sheet. You get a lot of images to play with. I've picked 3 and made these cards with them.   

 I have used some of the Lily Bee 12x12 papers with of the Hobby House Heart Pins and Faux Diamond Mesh to create these cards.

 The sentiments on two of the cards are from a Stampin Up set (From My Heart) and as I am now a Stampin Up demonstrator if you fancy these stamps just drop me an email ordersat3djean@btinternet.com as they are not in the shop.

Julie: Multi-pocket mini-album

Hi again.

Back in June I shared images of a mini-album I'd begun using the heavyweight 'Artist Colours' cardstock as my covers  [if you missed that post, just click on the link to visit it]. And now I'd like to share some of the inner pages which are a mix of divided page-protectors and regular double-sided paper leaves.

The album itself is a record of all the 9 times [and counting ...] that I've been on a long crafting weekend with a group of friends [including the 3DJean DT who are all making one of these albums too!] and it's a place for me to keep:

• lots of photos - we've all shared the photos we each have taken over the years - so we now have the same events from all angles!
• the menu [of Jean's fabulous home-cooking for each day!]
• our crafty itinerary - we're always forgetting just how much we get done in our 3 days away!
• plus ... lots of silly memories and notable quotes! What holiday with friends would be the same without the in-jokes and memorable moments?

Inside my divided page-protectors I've used a mix of the fun journaling cards from Infocrea's Feu d'Artifice:

And here they are cut out and slotted in:

And a couple more:

The tiny alpha stickers I used for the 'Craft Projects' title [above] and for some of my dates below are also by Infocrea [the particular colour-way I used is out of stock, but there's another option still available here]

I made the tabbed pages [above + below] using 12x12 sheets of the bright graphic double-sided patterns from the Feu d'Artifice range:

I made a few of these into pocket pages too - to hold more of those photos that we've all collated.

 

Let me show you how I made one particularly quick and easy pocket page from this  12x12"sheet :

My album is smaller than 12" so, rather than trim off a strip along the bottom of a full sheet of paper I simply folded it upwards: 

 As my pockets don't need to be super-strong I simply kept the folded flap in position using strips of washi tape wrapped around from the front to the back ... and voila! there's a pocket!:

You could also stitch down the sides if you wanted, or use brads or eyelets.

 

And here's the pocket in use, storing extra photos and those I haven't yet got around to sticking into the album:

And, not only is it a super-easy style of pocket ... it puts double-sided papers to such great use! You get to see both sides at the same time!

There you go 52 weeks of photos , you can do them in any order you like but the 1st and last must be Self Portrait. I think the list is interesting Gail and I put it together one night whilst crafting. The only one that might be a problem is No.7 and this has been put in as Gail has never been to see the Angel of the North , but often travels passed it , but im sure you are all creative enough for this to not be a problem.

52 Pictures....

.....Last year I undertook two year long projects... Julie's month in Numbers and Photo Friday.. and I completed them both!... this year I decided not to commit to anything.. this was fine at the beginning of the year but we're now halfway through the year ..... and I hate to say it but I miss not having a deadline... I work better under a little pressure but don't tell anyone that! So Jean has a plan..a photo a week.... there will be a list posted shortly.The subjects don't have to followed in any particular order as long as you document one a week.This is how I'm going to document mine... an easel type flip book so here's the instructions.

Chipboard...2 pieces 11x14 cm, 2 pieces 3x11cm....glue to your paper, fold over the edges and glue down.Take a strip of contrast paper and cover the underside...make sure you press well in the gaps..this needs to form a hinge that will fold without tearing the paper.

Cut one more chipboard piece 11x14.. this will be the front cover.. cover both sides. Cut 26 pages 11x14 from cardstock.

Use a BIA, Cinch or book rings to bind...

Decorate your front cover...

             I'll decorate each page as I add the photograph... hopefully printed on a Pogo...

Jan: A bit of shabby chic

Hi there long time since I posted last but I've been on my travels. While I've been away Jean has stocked up with some gorgeous goodies.

Today I've made this cute shabby chic card using a lovely Pion image.These sheets are such good value. There are even tinted images which give you that lovely vintage feel of hand coloured photographs.

I've created the background by colouring a piece of card with Milled Lavender Distress ink. Then I have stamped the Harlequin stamp from Purple Onion and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. The layers and images have been distressed with my scissors to give that shabby chic look.

Finishing off with a strip of organza roses, diamante strip and a flat backed pearl , all of these can be found in the shop.

So if shabby chic is your thing there are loads of  goodies in the shop to help you  create this look.

52 weeks in Photo's

It doesn't look much at the moment but trust me by the end of July 2014 it should . The design team (apart from Janet) are going to do a year in photo's. So every week we will pick one of the following 52 prompts , take a photo and put it on one of the little bits of card. When all 52 photo's are taken and scrapped they will be attached to the stand with  the Bind It All.

We will be putting pictures up every now and again showing you our progress. so if you fancy joining in , then welcome. First photo needs to be taken the 1st week of August 2013. Gail will do a step to step over the next week showing you all how to make the little stand. I've done mine using the Lily Bee 12x12 papers.    

Julie: Organza roses + bling ... vintage style

Hello again.

 

*NEW IN* the shop this week is this lovely organza rose trimming - available by the metre in black and red: 

The tulle mesh backing can be snipped away to leave just the blooms [like I did here]:

... or, depending on the style of your project, you could even leave it in place [especially if you were making something quite freestyle, arty and even punk-ish!]

 

It's definitely a trimming that something that could add a touch of glamour to a project [mixed with some bright pink and bling!] ... but I wanted to try something a little more vintage with it:

So ... I picked out lots of neutral shades to work with the vintage feel, beginning with the brown scroll-design of the LilyBee backing paper 'Parasol' from the Lovely range.

I then added something else which, on another style card could be quite 'blingy' - the Faux Diamante Mesh in Silver... but here, mixed with the softer neutrals it adds a nice subtle glimmer.

 

I wanted to show you a close-up of this ... so you could see how the mesh backing is actually a thread - and not plastic:

It's more sophisticated, and flexible, than some plastic versions I've seen in the past and can easily be snipped to size suit your project.

 

And finally, to mirror the organza roses and to add even more texture to my little card, I added a paper rose [there's been a huge re-stock of mulberry paper flowers in the shop!]

Here's the finished thing again, so you can see how it all hangs together:

This was one of those cards where 'more' was definitely 'more' ... it all started to come together the more layers and elements I added. And who'd have thought black organza roses mixed with diamante bling could turn into a rather quietly glamorous vintage-style card?!
